Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) is a strength, balance and fitness program for adults 65 and older. Performing exercises that improve strength, balance and fitness is the single most important activity adults can do to stay active and reduce their chances of falling. The entire curriculum of activities in the Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) program can help improve strength and balance, if done regularly.

Stay Active & Independent for Life (SAIL) is a strength, balance and fitness program. This class is designed to reduce the risk of falling by teaching participants how to perform exercises that improve strength, balance and fitness. Dress comfortably, wear shoes and bring water.and a sturdy chair. Optional equipment wrist/ankle weights or hand held weights, 9 inch ball, water, Come join instructor, Gail Johnson, for a fun class with purpose.

Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (AFEP) is a group exercise class for people with arthritis who want safe ways to stay active, reduce pain, and move more easily. Participants learn from a trained instructor on how to deal with challenges like pain that keep them from staying active. Participants will practice stretching, breathing, endurance, and balance activities tailored for their ability and skill level. AFEP can help control pain, boost energy and mood, and increase confidence about staying active and managing arthritis.

This class will be held at the Park Nicollet Stilts Building in the Minnesota River Conference Room. Classroom location and parking directions will be provided after registration. No classes on 08/06, 08/11, 09/01, 09/08, 09/10, 09/15.

Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance (TJQMBB) is an evidence-based fall prevention program designed for older adults developed by Fuzhong Li, Ph.D., Senior Scientist at the Oregon Research Institute. TJQMBB represents a substantive enhancement of traditional Tai Ji Quan as it transforms martial arts movements into a therapeutic regimen aimed at improving postural stability, awareness and mindful control of body positioning, functional walking, movement symmetry and coordination, range of motion around the ankle and hip joints and lower - extremity muscle strength.

This class is not open to public. It may open if open slots are available after residents of Ebenezer Tower Apartments have had time to registration. Public registration will not begin until July 10.

If you have Juniper classes as an MSHO benefit through your health plan your registration will take place through the Juniper platform. If you have Silver Sneakers, One Pass, Renu Active or no insurance coverage you may be referred to another system for registration and payment. This is an ongoing class. Participants may join at any time - no need to wait for a new session to begin.
