Flourish: Tune-up Your Diet to Prevent Diabetes

12/15/2021

Did you know that 88 million American adults have pre-diabetes? A pre-diabetes diagnosis can set off alarm bells, but it doesn’t have to lead to Type 2 diabetes.

You can make diet changes to prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes. Here are 4 tips to drive healthy eating:

  1. Steer away from sweetened beverages like soda, alcohol, lemonade, and punch.
  2. Put on the brakes with foods with added sugar like jams, candy and other sweets.
  3. Fill your tank with healthy protein like eggs, nuts or chicken. It can help you feel full and reduce your need to snack.
  4. Don’t take a detour and bypass your meals. You may get hungry later and overeat.
